Lt.Col. Alison C Brooks. SFX/1SF (ex 401st BG). P-51D 44-13686 5E-N "Rugged Rebel". This was originally Dick Dillons XF-N “Rugged Rebel III” with the SFX but Dick did not go with it to the 1SF due to being hospitalized with appendicitis. Al Brooks took it as his assigned a/c with the 1SF, deleting the “III” from the name. On release from hospital, Dillon went to the 2SF where his next P-51 became “Rugged Rebel IV”.
