Col. Roy Osborne. Group Headquarters. P-51D 44-13933 N2-O "Billy's Boy". NOTE This a/c has been listed by historians as 44-13923 which of course was the well known "Big Beautiful Doll" of John Landers with the 55th and 357th FGs and thereby adding to the confusion. Close examination of a poor quality photo though has shown N2-O to be as listed here and therefore not connected with the 55th or 357th FGs. |

This photo appears to have been taken at East Wretham as it was in the files of the 359th FG Association. The a/c must have put down at Station 133 due to the damage seen here. Althogh this a/c was assigned to Capt. Farrell, it cannot be certain that it is he in the photo. Unfortunately, I have no record of this incident. Photo: 359th Fighter Group Association |

Capt. Jasper E Hargrove. 385th Fighter Squadron. P-51D 44-14299 5E-H "Dottie B II". This appears to be a case where the panel with the name has been transposed from one a/c to its replacement. Still Dottie B II but the "last four" of the serial show this P-51D to be 44-14299 and not 44-13853 as seen in the photo above.

P-51D 5E-J of 385th Fighter Squadron. A number of P-51s carried the J code in the 385th so the identity of this particular one remains uncertain. Names of the crew members in shot would be welcome if anyone recognises them. Photo: Martin Kyburz – Swiss Mustangs |

An unusual photo taken from the 364th FG unit history. One of a pair showing a crew member with the two sorts of drop tanks used but thankfully also including a P-47 allocated to the Group in the background which bears the unit nose markings. This is P-47D 42-8615, at one time with the 78th FG 84th FS where it was WZ-E “My Baby”, the assigned a/c of Lt. Robert O Laho. What it is doing with the 364th in unclear but it could possibly be for conversion purposes prior to any redeployment to the Far East post VE Day. Photo: 364th FG Association * Additional data |

Capt. Richard L Stiefvater, Batavia, NY. 384th Fighter Squadron. P-51D 44-##### 5Y-# "Batavia Blitz". The Batavia link was easy enough as the only 384th pilot from Batavia was Capt. Stiefvater who is on the left in this photo of "C Flight". On the right, straddling the wheel is Lt. Roland A Henderson but as to who the others are, information is needed; as is the identity of "Batavia Blitz". Photo: John Craycroft |

To compliment the shot seen further up the page, a 385th FS P-47 is seen bearing the squadron code letters. Capt. Daniel L. Leftwich, 384th Fighter squadron. P-51D 44-13998 5Y-M_ “Silver Streak”. When Lt. Earl H. Miller rotated home, his a/c was reassigned to Capt. Leftwich who retained the name.
